The product is a MCU adaptor board of HT45F8554 28SSOP. You can use it with the development board, ESK-BMS-300, voltage calibration board, and the development platform, BMS Workshop, to complete a BMS management system.
BMS (Battery Management System) is a system to detect the status of Li-ion batteries and control the charge and discharge promptly to keep the operation safe and extend battery life. Without BMS, Li-ion batteries may damage or explode due to improper use.
There are four MCU adaptors that can use with ESK-BMS-300:

In the workshop, you can set multiple parameters and then generate program codes and schematics. Codes can be programmed into the MCU adaptor board via e-Link and HOPE3000 for e-Link software. A programmed MCU provides the BMS protection functions.
BMS Workshop includes seven protection functions: charge protection, discharge protection, charger voltage protection, charge current protection, short-circuit protection, and temperature protection.
PRODUCT FEATURES
Operating voltage: 1.8V to 5.5V
Holtek provides BMS workshop, making the development easier
5V/30mA internal voltage regulator with ±1% accuracy
Divided ratio accuracy of 1/n ± 0.5%
Cell Charging Balance Switches
Dimension: 35 x 35 x 10 mm

ASSEMBLY TO NOTE
It is important to make sure the direction of the MCU adaptor is correct when inserting it into the development board:
(1) The MCU part number should be on the front side.
(2) The triangle should be on the lower right of the adaptor.
Required Materials
HT45F85x4/HT45F85x6 series development board: ESK-BMS-300 (cannot use with the BMS-WS01 or ESK-BMS-200)
Why do I need the Li-ion battery protection functions?
If the Li-ion battery is used improperly, the battery will be damaged, and there may be an explosion accident.
The protection functions provided by the BMS workshop are used to prevent them.
Charge / discharge protection Over-discharge: lead Li-ion batteries to damage and degrade.
Overcharged: Li-ion battery can cause an explosion. It is very dangerous!
Charger voltage protection This protection function is used to make sure the charger voltage is within a reasonable range.
Charger's voltage is too low: batteries' power flows back to the charger.
Charger's voltage is too high: large voltage difference damages the charger and batteries.
Charge / discharge current protection Charge current is too small: it needs to take a longer time for charging.
Charge current is too large: the batteries' temperature raises sharply and causes damaged.
Large discharge current: lead batteries to overheat and degrade.
Short-circuit protection The protection system can interrupt voltage output immediately if a short circuit occurs during operation.
Temperature protection If Li-ion batteries keep working at high temperatures, battery circling is reduced.
